When I was a little kid, around 12 years old, my mother taught me to help her decorate cakes. As I grew up, I started doing them for myself... for my kids, for my family, and for my friends. But I didn't realize how much I actually loved doing it...that is...until 2002.
In 2002 I was preparing for my wedding. I went to a well known local bakery and ordered my perfect wedding cake - and what I saw when I walked in to my reception was just awful. The cake didn't look like the picture, it wasn't cooked all the way through, and of the three tiers, the second tier had separated from the top tier...I was devastated. It was obvious to me that my cake wasn’t “a piece of cake” for these people, and although I had pictures and tears to prove how awful it was, the service I was given when I complained was terrible. I had to settle for a $50 refund. Really?
I knew in my heart that I could make cakes better. So here I am. Making my confection dream a reality – with a smile.
